About Us:
Portland DBT Institute (PDBTI) was founded in Portland, OR and serves all of Oregon and Washington states, combining in-office and virtual telehealth DBT outpatient care. Our interdisciplinary team places a high value on ongoing professional development, providing quality service to clients of all backgrounds, and creating a supportive and egalitarian environment in which to work.
PDBTI provides a full array of DBT services for adults, young adults, and teens. We offer comprehensive outpatient DBT and DBT Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for multi-diagnostic adults including adults with eating disorders, as well as teens and families. In addition to a wide range of clinical services, PDBTI provides DBT training, consultation, and supervision regionally and throughout the United States. A robust in-house training program is available to all PDBTI staff to further mastery of DBT and CBT. The Registered Dietitian will participate in several weekly training opportunities led by DBT experts to further their skills around treating within a DBT-adherent setting.
Job Description:
We are looking for a full-time Registered Dietitian who is passionate about providing great care and is interested in working as part of an interdisciplinary mental healthcare team. The role will operate via Telehealth, either remotely or from our office in Portland, OR.
Our Pathways to Mindful Eating (PME) team is one of the few programs worldwide providing both outpatient and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care for eating disorder treatment with a fidelity DBT approach. As a dietitian on our PME team, you will have the opportunity to follow clients from our IOP program, through our stepdown program, and into standard outpatient care.
You will be part of a mature and expert disorder treatment team which includes licensed clinicians, dietitians, and prescribers, all of whom are committed to treating clients who haven’t found success in standard treatment settings. We hold time for weekly consultation meetings – you will never be alone or unable to consult with team leaders and peers. You will also receive dietetic supervision and supervision from a mental health lead.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting nutrition assessments, calculating nutrient needs, providing meal-planning assistance, and developing individualized and clinically appropriate meal plans
- Providing individual and group format nutrition education, including leading meal support groups and facilitating a weight-neutral, non-diet treatment environment; caseload will include at least 20 hours of direct service hours per week
- Monitoring client adherence to meal plans each week to inform clinical decision-making
- Reviewing client food logs to assess patterns and inform session agendas
- Reviewing diary cards for nutritionally relevant behaviors
- Responding to client questions and provide brief nutrition coaching between sessions, as indicated- Conducting outreach to clients who miss scheduled appointments to support engagement and continuity of care
- Providing psychoeducation and consultation to wider team members who are not PME team members
- Functioning as an integral member of a DBT-adherent clinical team
- Coordinating care with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including therapists, prescribers, and external providers, as appropriate

Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Oregon
- Prior experience working with eating disorder clients is strongly preferred; additional experience and knowledge of related needs such as diabetes or exercise nutrition is desirable
- Strong applicants will have experience using weight neutral approaches in their work, such as Health at Every Size® or intuitive eating
